Utes

Rigid trucks

Most rigid trucks have a day cab not much bigger than a ute's. One jar up front, in a cup holder or near a vent, is usually plenty. Prime movers

A day cab needs one jar up front, near the vents. Choose a scent with presence

In a big cabin, scent choice matters more than anything else. Our range runs from distinct to subtle, and for larger vehicles you want the top end.

Where to put them

• Front jar: the front centre cup holders or near a vent. Moving air is what carries scent through a big cabin.
• Second jar: in the back where air moves, either near the rear vents or in the centre just in front of the second row. Don't put it anywhere air won't circulate, or the scent won't carry.
• Not here: deep door pockets, centre console storage, the parcel shelf, the dash under the windscreen, or anywhere air doesn't circulate.
• Use the lid. Lid off lets more air reach the gel so the scent reads stronger, which is often what a big cabin needs. Lid on is subtler and lasts longer.
• Bring it back up. Around week two or three, take the lid off and shake the jar until the gel bounces around inside. That gets fresh air around it and lifts the scent again.

Deal with what it's competing with

In a big vehicle, the freshener is usually up against more than the space. A quick reset before the jars go in makes a real difference.

• Clear the boot and the back row. Old sports gear, work boots, hi-vis and forgotten food are the usual suspects.
• Vacuum properly, including between the seats, under the second row and in the back.
• Dry anything damp. Wet towels, wetsuits and muddy mats turn into a musty smell fast.
